Accidental poster girl for World Cancer Day 2020
Happy World Cancer Day!
It’s an honour to be a part of the 20th anniversary of this international event.
This year’s World Cancer Day theme, I Am And I Will is a call to action and I’ve made a commitment to continue my cancer advocacy and speak up those who can’t.
Celebrating cancer recovery
To celebrate World Cancer Day and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, I’ve a new post about recovering from cancer treatment and the role naturopathy can play in this process.

Poster girl for World Cancer Day
I was honoured to be asked by TCRN to share my cancer survivor and advocacy story as part of their campaign in the lead up to World Cancer Day. There was an unexpected bonus on the day, as I was invited climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge with some of my fellow survivors.
Ovarian cancer has a very poor survival rate. Many women are diagnosed too late, and it isn’t necessarily because they haven’t seen a doctor. My job as a consumer is not just to share my story but to be a face of the end users of ovarian cancer research, and hopefully contribute to opportunities for early diagnosis and more effective treatments for this disease.
WCD – Gill Stannard I Can And I Will
The bridge climb is a huge tick off my bucketlist but I’m just as excited to take part in the other events on the day and hang out with so many awesome scientists, clinicians and consumers.
By raising awareness on WCD, I hope we can work together around the word to create better outcomes for all people living with with cancer.
Thanks to TCRN, Concert TCRC, Cancer Sphere and UNSW Medicine, Cancer Institute NSW and all the partners for creating this event.
