August update – a shift in perception
The tawny frogmouth is nesting in the neighbour’s backyard again. Some nights just as I’m drifting off to sleep comes a low rhythmic sound, like a pump of some kind. When I used to think the noise was mechanical, my annoyance could keep me awake. But ever since I discovered it’s the call of shy native bird, the same sound now soothes and pleases me.
Isn’t perception an amazing thing? Same noise, different reaction. One happy, the other cranky. I’ve had a busy few weeks for me, as on top of the usual naturopathic and mentoring consultations, there’s been two important professional presentations this month to prepare. But if I shift my perception and accept that a week’s break in the sun with my family last month is the reason for the work log jam, the workload feels a little easier.
New articles on my site this month includes one that’s a little different to my usual. With requests from clients and friends to help them make sense of My Health Record, I’ve investigated the debate about remaining in or opting out of the new digital records system.
Recipe of the month is a yummy wonder I created for a practitioner gathering. Naturopaths love to eat, and the bar is always raised very high to be both delicious and healthy! The mushroom pate´takes a vegan platter to a new level.
As there are a couple of seasonal maladies doing the rounds, you might like to reacquaint yourself with what to keep on hand in case gastro and hay fever hits your home. There are a few simple remedies and tips that may help speed your recovery.
With such a busy winter, I’ve decided to push my next Melbourne consultations to October in the hope of having my first full month at home since February! Please get in touch if you’d like to see me in person in Melbourne as times are limited. Unlike other consultations, these sessions can’t be booked online.
As always, I continue to work with clients around the country and offshore. It’s simple to book a Sydney in-person, or distance/Skype mentoring or naturopathic session online.
I hope you have a great month, spring is just around the corner!
