Autumn 2025 update
March begun with a bang! The lazy days of summer cut short by potentially catastrophic weather events, the onset of ‘conference season’ and the inevitable shortening of days as we welcome autumn. I hope you are safe, wherever in the world you may be.
Please read the heads up below regarding availability of consultations.

Healthy aging
Have you noticed the grey zone in health reporting, between menopause and ‘old age’? With peri/menopause having a well-deserved hot minute, women’s health goes underground after this biological milestone until ‘senior years’ arbitrary begin at 65.
As a naturopath I believe, regardless of gender, eating and living well at any age is vital. However this becomes even more crucial the older we get.
Lifestyle tips to future proof healthy aging.
Summer salads
In hot weather salads are on high rotation. Though largely improvised to use what’s on hand, these are the basic recipes that I’ve been enjoying.
The ‘viral gyoza salad’: There are lots of variations on this recipe, so google it if you’re looking for more inspiration. I love the Aldi vegetable or prawn and veggie gyoza which can be steamed from frozen in a few minutes. Dumplings can easily be subbed with flash fried tofu, tempeh or other sources of protein. Just put them on a coleslaw-like base of shredded cabbage and carrots, etc. Toss with a spicy dressing such as crispy chilli oil, soy or tamari, vinegar and sesame oil. Or try prik nam pla for a Thai version.
Smoked trout salad: Assemble some blanched green vegetables (eg broccolini, beans, asparagus), leafy salad greens, smoked fish, avocado, pumpkin seeds or celery for crunch. Dress with dairy-free green goddess or your favourite vinaigrette.
Green salad with eggs and croutons: Assemble some leafy salad greens, cucumber, tomato, avocado, boiled eggs and a piece of toast cut or ripped into small pieces (aka croutons). Toss with a vinaigrette just before serving.
On a personal note
In January I spent some time planning and mapping out the first half of 2025. There are two conferences, numerous research meetings and some travel to look forward to, breaking up the steady flow of clinic and mentoring work.
Recently I attended COSA (Clinical Oncology Society of Australia) Survivorship. It’s a cancer conference like no other, bringing together researchers, clinicians and consumers. I had the honour of presenting at the pre-conference workshop, as well as sharing a poster about our consumer team’s collaboration on an ovarian cancer study at the University of Newcastle.
Through this busy time the last thing I’ve needed is problems sleeping. Hot weather, presentation anxiety and hotel rooms are a challenge when prone to insomnia. But practicing cognitive shuffling has made a huge difference, to the point that it’s almost become second nature.
Just a heads up I currently have consultations available over the next two months. I will be on holiday from 15 May and returning to clinic on 24 June. On return I will be reviewing my availability in the clinic from this point onwards. So if you’re interested in working together, this is an ideal time.
