Cool drinks for FebFast: round up week 1
In this part of the world February means it’s FebFast time. Whether you’ve signed up to support this great organization or are quietly test driving the concept of a month alcohol-free, your liver is grateful for the effort.
Each weekday through February on Twitter I’m posting delicious alcohol-free drink ideas. On Fridays get your straws and cocktail umbrellas ready as there’s a mocktail to wrap up the week.
Hope you enjoy the offerings, feel free to add your favourite non-alcoholic beverages in the comments below if you’d like me to share them on Twitter.
Week 1 drinks round up
Tuesday: Stir 1-2 teaspoons of pomegranate molasses in a long glass of chilled soda water. A tangy, refreshing drop.
Wednesday: Try young coconut juice, fresh or canned from you local Asian grocery. Very cooling on a hot day.
Thursday: A dash of bitters* in a glass of soda, skip the lime cordial. A great aromatic aperitif.
Friday Mocktail
Virgin Mojito
Mix together the juice of 1-2 limes (lemons will do), 1 tablespoon sugar syrup, a handful of fresh mint (finely ripped or shredded) and ice. Top with soda water. Stir. Sip slowly.
*Angostura bitters is technically a “cheat” as it contains 40% alcohol. However you need only 5 drops of bitters in the soda, making the actual alcohol content negligible.
