Mentoring: making the dash to the end of the year easier
Do you find the year speeds up once spring hits?
Running your own business means constantly planning a few months ahead. Just when you’re on top of posting about seasonal allergies, you need to be thinking about the holiday season!
Clinic holiday planning
A little planning now means getting through to Christmas will be a breeze and by the time you put the finishing touches to your out of office email reply, you’ll still have the energy needed to enjoy the holidays.
In the first half of October I consciously put aside some time, to make the rest of the year easier. Some things I’m doing right now:
- Checking external dispensary for holiday closures, to set my clinic dates.
- Blocking off my work diary for a summer break.
- Making a quick Canva image with clinic holiday dates to share on social media and attach to client emails.
- Compiling a list of clients to remind to book before the end of the year.
- Completing my Q1 BAS instead of leaving it to the end of the month.
- Planning end-of-year newsletters and creating content for the rest of the year.
- Revisiting my mid-year review to see if I’m on track.
- Working through the clinic break checklist.
Creating your own list
Each practitioner and clinic , regardless of size, has its own unique needs to make the final months of the year as easy as possible.
What do you put in place to make the busy season calmer?
List what you’ve learned from previous years. For example, if you usually follow up new clients 2 – 3 weeks after their initial consult, do you have a cut-off date for newbies before you go on holiday? Or do you like to start the first week back with a non-client admin day so you can be on top of things right from the start?
