What you need for a healthy spring
Spring is a time of creativity, new beginnings and change. Like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis, we’re back in the world with a bang after the darkness of winter.
In the Southern Hemisphere, September begins the increasingly hectic sprint to Christmas. As the season progresses, the busier life becomes for many of us. The deluge of extra-curriculum projects starts landing on my desk in late August. It’s like every organisation I volunteer with has meetings and events that must happen right now. Then there’s all the lovely barbecues, parties and social happenings that swing back into life.
After a couple of months of taking it easy, I’m ready for action and bursting with ideas. Taking energy from nature bursting with joy around me, I’m thankful I rested over winter so I can make the most of the abundance.
Everything you need for a healthy spring
If you’re not fighting fit and ready for action, don’t despair. I’ve got some great tips to help you feel your best through spring.
Here’s a bundle of resources I’ve created in recent years, from working with your energy in spring, to preventing and treating hayfever. For the adventurous, there’s the possibility of a spring clean or all small challenge to diversify your diet.
Spring energy: understanding the energy changes in spring and how to navigate daylight saving ‘jet lag’.
Preparing for hayfever season: what to do before seasonal allergies hit.
Got hayfever?: How to minimise hayfever symptoms
An internal spring clean: Are you ready to spring clean your body (and who shouldn’t attempt this)?
What produce is in season?: Spring fruit and vegetable, in season in Australia’s eastern states.
A spring challenge
With a flood of new season produce on the market – this is the perfect time of year to undertake the forty foods challenge. Our gut loves a variety of plant foods to nurture a robust and diverse microbiome. Eating forty different plants in a week is a little trickier than it sounds (it wouldn’t be a challenge otherwise) because we tend to eat the same narrow range fruits and vegetables. The challenge focuses on diversity rather than quantity. Give the forty foods challenge a go.
Personalised health support
As all body’s are different, sometimes we need a little extra, professional, TLC.
I have a herbal and nutritional dispensary to prescribe for my clients around Australia (and some other parts of the world as well), that can make navigating spring a lot easier.
Book in for an initial naturopathy consultation online (or a follow up if we’ve worked together previously). I work with people around the world via Skype/Zoom, and in person in Sydney’s inner west.
