May update
The shorter days have now kicked in, with some stunning Sydney autumnal afternoons bathed in golden light. Walking through my local park, it’s the sounds as much as the sights that have been getting my attention lately. A gentle breeze through the trees is reminiscent of a taffeta ball gown swishing, and dried leaves crunching under foot of is always satisfying.
I’m enjoying longer walks now the weather has begun to cool. While an old friend has been staying, we’ve clocked up many kilometres by the water and through the inner city.
It’s delightful to have friendships that have lasted so long, despite not living in the same city or country for over three decades. We only get to see each other every few years but always seem to be able to carry on from where we last left off. No matter how different our lives, it’s shared values more than mere nostalgia that seem to cement long friendships.
Other than walking, we’ve also done a lot of browsing the fresh produce markets and cooking together. This month’s recipe is more a how-to, inspired by a meal we made. Stir fries are a perennial favourite as it’s so easy to vary the flavours. Talking through the steps made me realise why many people find this simple dish a challenge to cook. Whether you want to trouble-shoot your technique or expand your repertoire, you might enjoy my simple stir fry ideas.
Also new to the website this month is a review of the Blood Sugar Diet. Dr Mosley, of 5:2/Fast diet fame, has been promoting his solution for type 2 diabetes. As 60% of cases are preventable, and with over 3 million Australians at risk of developing the condition, is this the answer we’re looking for?
I’m looking forward to seeing some new and old clients in Melbourne next month. But wherever you are in the world I’m only a Skype or phone call away if you need some help.
