Seasonal health
Autumn has settled in. Traditionally this heralds the beginning of the cold and flu season. The 2020 season was historically low, due to the preventative powers of social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing. We stayed at home, avoiding the commute to work and sharing lurgies with colleagues.
What’s your prediction for this flu season? You can join in and be part of the real-time data by taking 10 seconds to respond to Flutracking Australia’s weekly email.
Now you can track, hand wash, social distance and take autumn immune boosters to keep you well this season. Let’s hope it’s another historic low!
Don’t forget, as our sun exposure drops, do you have enough vitamin D? It’s a gentle mood and immune booster, along with a host of other amazing actions.
Health at Every Size
Anna Hearn had a vision for a unique fitness community where women of all sizes could come together to move their bodies. Haven Wellness is not your average fitness and yoga studio, it’s a body-positive space, which successfully pivoted and thrived through last year’s lockdown.
If you’re curious about an alternative to dieting, watch my recent interview with Anna, about Health At Every Size and tips on growing a wellness business.
What’s for dinner?
Do you get tired of being asked that question, or struggle for inspiration when cooking for yourself?
I love a meal in a bowl, whether it be a quick dhal with brown rice or congee with soy braised vegetables. There’s a simple formula to create bowls of goodness, which can make an infinite variety of meals.
I’ve had amazing feedback about this ‘recipe’. Give it a go, you’ll love it!
On a personal note
Almost seven years ago I moved to Sydney and an unexpected bonus of living in the harbour city is proximity to water. While not a beach bunny, I love swimming in the sea. It is also a joy seeing other creatures frolic in the water, watching the whale migration from many of this city’s coastal vantage points.
I had my last swim of the season at the beginning of May, just a day before the first humpback of the season was sighted. As we continue to live in uncertain times, I feel thankful for these simple pleasures.
If you tend to feel down in winter, now is the time to book a consult so I can prescribe some herbal ‘sunshine in a bottle’.
