Running on empty
Are you a clinician running your own practice?
As health professionals, so much of our time is spent focusing on others. We spend our days empathising, diagnosing and treating. In between clients, we write referral letters, reply to queries, manage staff or take an even greater amount of time doing our own admin.
Clinicians in private practice are often required to be Jack and Jill of all trades. When I graduated as a naturopath in 1991, promotions were old school and straightforward; pamphlets, talks, and in my case, a regular radio show.
I began mentoring naturopaths in 1998. In many ways, marketing was a lot simpler and there was more time to concentrate on professional supervision – decoding cases, patient management and review strategies.
I continue to mentor emerging and established practitioners. Business strategies often seem overwhelming and more time consuming. I help practitioners take the struggle out of using social media and find effective ways to promote their clinic in a highly competitive market, at the same time as lodging their quarterly BAS, juggling multiple modes of client communication and actual hands on clinical work.
It’s no wonder so many practitioners struggle to find the headspace needed to reassess their needs and create a heart-centred plan to make their work sustainable in the long-term, while maintaining physical and emotional wellbeing.
Do you need help?
This year, with my colleague Charmaine Dennis, we created the mentoring haven that every practitioner dreams of. Rest, revitalise and inspire, our first practitioner retreat in Bali, was such a success we’re running it again in 2018.
Can you imagine yourself in a small eco-resort, eating delicious organic food and being taken care of? From the moment you arrive, there’s everything you need to relax and get ready to soak up the wisdom of two practitioners who have more than 40 years of combined experience running their own multidisciplinary clinics and naturopathic businesses.
Once you’re relaxed, had a massage and cooled off in the pool, we’ll guide you through a series of self-care and authentic business workshops so you can approach your clinical work with fresh intent, that won’t burn you out.
Rest, revitalise and inspire is the one practitioner event this year that you can’t afford to miss. This small group retreat in Bali will both nurture and rejuvenate, you and your practice.
We’ve almost sold out the 2018 retreat! Don’t miss out on the nourishment you need to build or reshape an authentic practice.
