August upate
Do you feel like winter is never going to end? During these chilly days and nights I’ve been reveling in the upside of the season, like hitting bed earlier armed with a hot water bottle, good book or podcast. I’ve created some new soups and rugged up to watch the seasonal whale migration off the coast of Sydney.
As winter is traditionally the time of contemplation, I’ve explored some emotional themes in the recent newsletters. Ruminating on these long nights is one way we gird ourselves for change once spring arrives. In June I looked at a mindfulness technique to help cope with raging emotions and July’s newsletter tackled feeling isolated. This month’s edition examined grief. But not the kind associated with death and dying – rather the way changing even a small aspect of our diet or lifestyle can trigger an emotional journey through the five stages of grief.
If you’ve not visited the website for a while – don’t forget to catch up on the latest original recipes, vodcasts and book reviews – archived in my resources. And for those who miss Health Trip* or have a simple health-related question, please drop me a line and share a question for Health Q&A Monday.
I hope you enjoy what’s left of the season. See you again in spring!
In good health,
Gill
