Hope: January 2021 update
Welcome to 2021
After five long months, I farewelled New Zealand with mixed emotions and spent a couple of weeks settling back into Sydney life.
Hope
I’ve got to admit when 1 January rolled around, I briefly had second thoughts about my chosen word for the year!
For me choosing hope during times of uncertainty is more emotionally sustainable than wallowing in despair. While we can’t control our world, we can choose how we react to it.
Despite (or perhaps because of) the restrictions in our lives at the moment, the coming year feels deliciously uncluttered at the outset.
After 2020’s emotional rollercoaster ride, it seems an appropriate time to pause, recalibrate and approach both life and business with fresh eyes.
Naturopathy and mentoring
Back in the clinic I’ve swapped the views of rolling hills for a more urban one of my plant festooned Inner West lane.
For now, all consultations will remain online. As much as I love working with locals (and some interstate visitors) in my home clinic, it’s simpler and safer to remain virtual for the duration.
As I ease into the New Year, I’ve contained my clinic times. But if your work commitments or time zone doesn’t match my availability, please email me.
In the kitchen
I’m enjoying pottering in my kitchen again making curries, salads and wild soda, with herbs and vegetables from the garden. Fortunately it didn’t take long for my mojo to return.
My first challenge was to create a non-dairy raita. Often vegan yoghurts are sweeter than cow’s milk varieties and lack the necessary tang for savoury dishes. But with a bit of tweaking, I managed to nail a cucumber and coconut version. Take a look at the results.
I’ve also had some fun cooking with friends. On New Years day I learnt to make mochi, one of my favourite Japanese snacks. Take a look at my Insta post to see how a breadmaker magically turns the cooked rice into a smooth pastry-like rice cake. The end result was silky and delightful.
A nourishing start to the year
Have you returned to work feeling less refreshed than usual? For many of us the past year has been a marathon and, as hopeful as we are that 2021 will be better, it’s challenging to be optimistic when feeling physically and emotionally behind the 8 Ball.
If you feel like your resilience is lacking at the moment, a consultation to support and nourish your nervous system may be just what you need. It takes only a minute to book online.
Whatever the coming months throw at us, I’m here for you.
