Mentoring: end of year business review
Before the year is out, take a few moments to reflect on how 2022 has been for you.
In my early years in practice, pre-digitalization, I’d manually audit the number of clients I’d seen, the demographics and as much information as I could glean. This juicy data gave me a sense of who my clients really were, emerging health trends and where things went right or occasionally wrong.
Auditing your demographics
If you use practice management software or a booking platform, generate a report on your consultations throughout the year. It will give you some basic numbers, such as how many clients you’ve worked with, broken down into different types of consultations. It may also be able to break down demographics such as gender, age, location etc.
Take some time to get a better understanding of your current clients. Dive into the files of all the new patients you began working with this year. How often did they return? What types of conditions did they present with. Are there any surprises?
If you need any help, you can learn more about how and why to audit in my Health Masters Live webinar.
How do you feel?
Aside from the audit, my current end of year reflective practice largely focuses on how I feel, what the most satisfying aspects of business have been and my intentions for the new year.
It’s is a short and satisfying ritual to wind up the clinic year, to be able to start back in January afresh and motivated.
