Lockdown love: August 2021 update
How are you?
Really, how are you? With more than half of Australia and all of New Zealand currently in lockdown, this is not an easy time for many of us.
Sydney has now passed the two-month mark. I’m still practicing gratitude (most days, I’m only human).
Some days scrape the bottom of the barrel. But fortunately, the city is now springlike with an abundance of blossoms and blue-skyed days which make passing this time easier. Most of all I’m grateful for being connected with friends and family, near and far.
Liver love for hay fever season
As an early spring begins its creep across the country, for those who are allergy prone it’s time to prepare for hay fever season. And yes, a bit of prevention can make this challenging time of year easier.
As the trees come into flower it’s a reminder to be kind to your liver, to help your body cope better with allergies.
Don’t forget – I work with old and new patients online around the country. It was a pleasure to help old clients in Melbourne through a particularly rough allergy season last year.
Healthy treats
For clients looking for healthy snacks, I often suggest making bliss balls. The recipe is basically 50:50 dried fruit and nuts. Kids love rolling the balls and it’s a low skill activity, perfect for home schooling. But these lemony bliss balls are seriously next level and distinctly adult!
On a personal note
Earlier this month I received my second Pfizer shot. I didn’t make this decision lightly. But I remember what it’s like to be immuno-compromised and afraid of catching a cold let alone this darn virus. So despite my hesitancy, I’ve done this is for my Teal sisters and others going through cancer treatment. I’m happy to report no side effects, other than a huge sense of relief.
I’m still enjoying the challenge I set myself to document this lockdown by posting a picture on Instagram every day. It reminds me to look for and find the beauty in the mundane.
If you’re struggling at the moment, consider having a check-up. Remember if we’ve worked together any time in the past 30 years you don’t need an initial consult, just book a regular (50 minute) follow up.
