July update: mindfulness, soup and lockdown discount
It appears this ride on the Coronacoaster isn’t over yet!
To make it a little easier, if you live in a Lockdown postcode don’t forget this month’s special. I’m offering a 15% discount off naturopathy and mentoring consultations, for both new and returning clients. Why not use this time to refocus on your health or business? Can mindfulness change your life?
Something that has helped me through the ups and (mostly) downs of this year has been my fledgling mindfulness practice. An unexpected gem is a new documentary, My Year of Living Mindfully. Filmmaker Shannon Harvey embarks on an experiment to meditate every day for a year to see if it could improve her autoimmune condition, insomnia and mental health. She also interviewed many luminaries of the mindfulness world and undertook a plethora of diagnostic tests to track any changes. I was absolutely riveted by the doco and thoroughly recommend it.
There are also some generous bonuses from the project, regardless of whether you rent or buy the film, including Shannon’s new podcast series and an insightful Q&A with Vidyamala Burch on YouTube. I love Vidyamala’s suggestion to learn the skill of being “discomfortable”. Would our experience of lockdown be more bearable if we follow her lead and find the peace that comes when we “accept the unpleasantness”?
A soup recipe for every week of winter
According to a Melbourne friend ‘sourdough is so April’ and predicts that soup making is the new cooking fad for Lockdown 2.0! Spurred on by some distinctly non-tropical weather in Sydney and pictures of snow-capped hills around my hometown Wellington, I’ve created the soup collection – with more than a dozen delicious yet simple recipes. What’s your favourite?
Thank you
Thanks for your kind messages regarding my father’s recent death. This sad time has been made more complicated by the current travel restrictions. But I have been taking good care of myself and had some time off in June. In lieu of a newsletter last month, I posted a new YouTube video about mindfulness and grief. There’s also a June update on the website packed with handy tips to soothe our frequently washed and sanitised, sore hands. Take a look if you missed it.
Who knows how the rest of the year will unfold but remember we’re in this together and I’m here to help.
