November clinic update
It’s been quite a month, with fires, dust storms and smoke haze in many parts of Australia. In Sydney we’re entering the next stage of water restrictions and it’s not even summer yet. These are “interesting” times indeed and our home, earth, is crying out for healing.
Living in uncertain times
What gets me through uncertain times is remembering to ground myself. These are simple things like going for a walk (heat and smoke willing), “brain dumping” (journal writing) and eating regularly.
Expanding on last month’s theme of simple pleasures, I’ve explored other things that make life more enjoyable and meaningful. In simple pleasures in living, I explore ways to rethink our relationship with money to prioritise joy over cravings. Pleasure is often mistakenly confused with indulgence or luxury. But borrowing from the ‘voluntary simplicity’ philosophy (that I’ve been following for the last twenty years), learning to distinguish between pleasure and cravings, can refocus your priorities and create space for what you really value. What brings you pleasure? Would you like to find ways to have more of it in your week?
Seasonal eating
With masses of spring herbs around, a recent simple pleasure has been rediscovering green herb sauce. This first crossed my path as chimichurri but with a few twists becomes salsa verde, pistou and many other traditional favourites. This condiment can transform plainest meal into a flavour explosion and literally takes moments to whip up.
Stuck for what to cook at this time of year? Don’t forget the month by month guide for Australian seasonal produce. There are more than a 100 original recipes in the archive, plus my Copy Me That recipe box with at least 200 favourites I’ve found online. Most recipes I share are vegan (many gluten-free), plus a few with seafood or eggs.
The best natural fertility book!
I mentioned in the October’s newsletter that I’d been in Melbourne for the book launch of Create a Fertile Life. My talented colleagues have written a “preconception book like no other”, with practical, well-researched lifestyle information to help people navigate their fertility journey. It’s also one of the best written, healthy living books I’ve ever read. So whether you’re considering getting pregnant, hitting roadblocks when trying to have a family, or just want some expert tips on how to create a healthier life – read this book right now! Take a look at my review for more information or click this link to purchase it.
Staying well through the festive season
Stay tuned for the December newsletter (subscribe on the top right column of this page), that will be out a little earlier in the month than usual. There will be resources to get through the busy part of the year and as well as a festive treat.
But if you’re already feeling frayed at the edges, it’s not too late to book a consultation for your health or business. It only takes a moment to book your consultation online, for the Sydney clinic or a web-based consult anywhere in the world.
There are consultations until 20 December (subject to availability), or start the new year with the best intentions and claim a time on my return 8 January.
