In recent years the feminisation of boys and men, due to endocrine disruptors in the food chain and environment has been big news. Now it appears it’s the women’s turn for a hormonal shake-up.
A segment on Today Tonight last month tells part of the story of why more Australian women are being diagnosed with high levels of testosterone. While a saliva test can give you the “numbers”, treating the problem and stopping it from reoccurring is a lot more involved.
The article hints at changing stress levels and diet being important to normalise the condition. In most cases these factors are actually the cause, not just the cure. In the video there’s a short but useful explanation of how our hormones act like messengers, that under abnormal conditions delivers “mail” to the wrong addresses. It’s worth taking a look at the video for this alone to start to understand the biological connection between stress (adrenal hormones) and changes in reproductive system.
There are many reasons why we can loose or cool, hormonal changes being only one of them. There’s never a “one size fits all” solution. For a holistic assessment of the cause and lasting, targeted treatment now is the time to book in for a check up.
