Week 3 round up
Monday – you can’t go past a classic, start the week with a carrot, apple and celery juice for a clear head and inner glow.
Tuesday – Whenever pears are in season this is my number one combo: 2-3 pears, 1/2 a lemon and a thumb-sized nob of ginger.
Wednesday – Summery sweetness for hump day, try chilled watermelon and strawberry.
Thursday – Juice 3 parts apple, 2 parts celery and 1 part cucumber. Cools you down and clear your skin.
A few years ago I discovered the joys of fresh tomato juice. This time of year tomatoes are ripening on the vine and nothing tastes better than a fresh Virgin Mary made with tomatoes straight from the garden. Of course bottled juice can be used as a substitute for fresh.
Take 3/4 of a glass of tomato juice, the juice of half a lemon, a shake of Worcestershire sauce and a dash of Tabasco sauce. Stir together and add salt and pepper as desired. Taste again and season further if necessary, some like it tangy, others like it mild. Pour into a long glass over ice and garnish with a celery stick.
